Spent much of the day in the studio putting everything away from the craft fair
and I ended up rearranging it all to give the small space a new look.

September 3, 2007 ~ Monday ~ sunny and breezy in the morning and it becomes more
humid in the afternoon and evening...

©Nancy Cooper Funk sunset with gulls
A strange sight as we walked on the beach tonight...there were many gulls circling
just inland from the beach and it appeared as though they were eating something
in the air which was not visible to our eyes at that distance. What could it be?

©Nancy Cooper Funk Dave catching bugs at sunset

Dave reached up to catch
something that finally flew
into our sight
and it was a
flying ant!

We hadn't realized
that seagulls found
flying ants so
appetizing!

We continued on our
walk hoping to avoid
the mosquitoes who
would appear once the
sun set.

birds in the gift gallery section of this website....I have much to do!

©Nancy Cooper Funk plover
Speaking of birds, this plover paused
for a moment while I was walking
this evening.

©Nancy Cooper Funk Maris
To my surprise, I saw someone I hadn't seen
in many years who used to visit our gallery
with his family. He was taking a walk tomight
on the beach with Maris.

September 5, 2007 ~ Wednesday ~ another sunny clear day on the cool side so I bicycled to town.
I'm late with posting this for I got carried away with working on the Prints of
Birds section of this website
late last night and it turned into the next day...

While taking an evening walk just before sunset
it appeared that small glass beads had washed
up on the shore.

September 8, 2007 ~ Saturday ~ It's a special day....
On this day in 1979, David and I were living in
Connecticut and just about to drive up to Maine to look for a place to live
when the phone rang.....my sister had just given birth to a baby boy.... we
postponed our trip and met our wonderful nephew, Max.
Weatherwise, it was very hot and humid....90's and even felt hotter at night!

©Nancy Cooper Funk apples and a bird's nest
Climbing up the front steps the sight of the apples that
Dave picked and placed beside the nest looked just right!
Spent today working on the
prints of Children section of the
Gift Gallery in this website. It's a start and I will be adding
more but at least the structure is there.

September 10, 2007 ~ Monday... a dark damp day and very cool and green...

Polly is very content to be inside a cozy warm basket today.

Outside it feels like a rain forest...very damp and lush...

September 11, 2007 ~ Tuesday... cool damp and dark in morning with very heavy rain in the afternoon
and we need the rain!

Before the rain, I went out to photograph all of our apples that had fallen from our trees
that Dave gathered and set on top of the old Volvo.

This is just a drop in the bucket!
Last night he made a delcious concoction with some of
these apples.... it was gone by noon today!

When I returned into the house something caught my
eye on my skirt...upon closer inspection I realized
a bumblebee had hitched onto me as I wandered through
the garden.

September 12, 2007 ~ Wednesday... sun, clear, brisk and breezy....a beautiful fall day...
all of the rain yesterday seems to have brought out baby amphibians to start a new life.

©Nancy Cooper Funk baby snapping turtle
While walking through the garden this morning, Dave
almost stepped on this newly hatched baby snapping
turtle trying to find it's way to the brook.
Everyone can use a little kindness and a helping hand
and Dave gave escorted it to the brook to begin it's
new year!

©Nancy Cooper Funk little frog

While I was walking over to the studio I almost
stepped on a tiny toad which resembled a brown
leaf in the shadows on the path.

September 13, 2007 ~ Thursday... another sunny clear day...
in the afternoon we drove up to Portland and a truck passed us on the Maine Turnpike.

Upon closer inspection, there was something
attached to the back of the truck bobbing up and down

It just made us grin as we followed it along the highway.

September 14, 2007 ~ Friday... sunny once again and pleasant

Polly relaxes in the morning.....

As
I walked through the porch into the studio, I
didn't notice Ellie May in the giant basket
until I came back out.

The sea was dark and gray blue tonight
but the sky was aglow with pink.

September 15, 2007 ~Saturday... a very dark rainy day til about 3:30 pm. when the sun appears.

The evening is so clear as the sun sets.

September 16, 2007 ~Sunday... a sparkling clear cool day

The last of the roses are still blooming a

While photographing the pink reflection in the sand and sea
a golden retriever bounded into the the ocean for a
jubilant swim on this cool evening.

September 17, 2007 ~Monday... a beautiful sunny clear day once again

Polly is totally relaxed with the warmth of the sun on
her face as we have a wonderful lunch with our
dear friends from Rochester, NY.

September 18, 2007 ~Tuesday... a clear cold morning full of sunshine that lasts the entire day...

Was so beautiful today, my bicycle ride just kept going past the Post Office to
my favorite spot where the river meets the sea behind our old gallery space at
the former Schooner's Inn building. So peaceful.... actually saw fish jumping
out of the water in the river.

September 19, 2007 ~Wednesday... it is another beautiful sunny clear coolish day

Brody settled himself into David's chair this morning
waiting for Miss Polly to stroll by.

The last of the roses sat in a tiny vase on
our front steps in the sun attracting the
bumblebees.

September 20, 2007 ~Thursday... the sun shines with blue skies and a bit more warmth

Part of me would rather keep to look at
than cook the beautiful eggplants that
David had brought home from the market.

A quick ride tonight caught the moon
sparkling on the sea....it was very
subtle and may not be visible in this
photo.
artist paint brush ©NCooperFunk
September 21, 2007 ~Friday... More sunshine and it's definitely warmer today
bringing the tiny ants in the brick path out.

Couldn't find Brody early this morning....when suddenly
I spotted the tip of his tail poking out from a curtain
and then 2 paws.

These may resemble apples, but they are
actually Asian pears that David planted
years ago and this year they are abundant.

September 22, 2007 ~ Saturday... Overcast and in the early evening the sun plays
hide and seek beneath a thin layer of clouds

The veiled sun cast a soft glow this evening.

Chicory is blooming along the ocean.

A hint of autumn stands out along the subdued shades in the rocks tonight.

September 23, 2007 ~ Sunday... a clear warm day

The sky was so sparkling clear tonight as the sun set and just before sunset
we saw 3 adorable dogs coming towards us on the beach...they were Norwich terriers.

September 25, 2007 ~ Tuesday... today the warmth of the sun feels just like a summer day...

Woke up to see Brody on his chair with his
signature pose!

September 26, 2007 ~Wednesday... this was a day that was in the 90's and humid....

Yesterday everywhere I looked, there were
apples...they are falling from our trees in
record numbers...they are being collected
on the front steps, the front and back
porches and even on top of our old car.

As Dave spent time in the shade on this summerlike day
processing apples, he heard the sound of the
Great Blue Heron as it flew into the brook.
I ran down to catch a glimpse of it and my camera
captured it flying away.

September 27, 2007 ~Thursday... some rain and thunder early and mostly humid

Brody's shelf on the porch provides a good
place to listen for birds.

The tide was very low late this afternoon
and I was able to find the tiniest shells
mixed in the the regulars!

The sea was so calm...
artist paint brush ©NCooperFunk
September 28, 2007 ~Friday... it's in the 70's as the sun shines... as the day goes along the humidity drops

Am so surprised when I enter the house
to see Brody and Polly
relaxing in close proximity to each other.
This doesn't happen often for Polly
usually doesn't trust Brody's admiring
glances!

The Jerusalem artichokes are reaching
for the sky!

September 29, 2007 ~Saturday... a very beautiful fall day

As I rode my bike home from Dock Square on this clear breezy day,
I paused along the way to admire a field of milkweed that seemed to be
dancing in the sun.

September 30, 2007 ~Sunday... a sunny clear day on the coolish side

Some gifts from the garden...

Polly's window basket overlooks the Jerusalem artichoke
swaying in the breeze.

Brody is keeping an eye on me as I'm working
on the website.

Was a cool evening and the sunset was so golden!
