October 2, 2007 ~ Tuesday ~ Was a nice morning to bicycle to the Post office
on this cool clear day...

Polly just loves her old basket that is
unraveling and I have managed to hold it
together with bows.

The cosmos is facing the sky as the
day winds down.

October 3, 2007 ~ Wednesday ~ overcast and misty and late in the day the fog rolls in...

The fog rolls in and makes everything cozy.

The path looks so bright tonight with

October 4, 2007 ~ Thursday ~ the morning sun feels like a summer day as it climbs into the 80's

The sun shines on Brody who has claimed
his spot on the couch to be near to Polly.

As we started out on our evening walk
on the beach, we were surprised to
see our friends from Troy, NY.
We paused to chat as the
sun set on this summerlike evening.

October 5, 2007 ~ Friday ~ another sunny day that is very comfortable and summerlike
without the humidity.

Brody watched me paint the indoor window trim
from the comfort of his basket.

There are so many green tomatoes in
the vegetable garden....hope we don't
have a frost for a long time....

October 6, 2007 ~ Saturday ~ well, it is another pleasant day with mild temperatures

The mild weather inspired me to ride my bike in the late
afternoon and I pedaled to my favorite spot, where
the river meets the sea. It was nice to pause in such
a calm setting.

Along the way, I stopped along the river to
observe the Great Blue Heron,
a kingfisher, and this
sandpiper taking a birdbath.

I was wearing 2 jackets on our walk in the early evening...
the sea and sky blended into a blue gray atmosphere on this cool damp day.

In the distance we noticed a dog frolicking
on the beach and as we got closer she came
running over to us....it was at that moment
we realized she was with a couple we have known
for years and haven't seen in a while. It was
a nice reunion!

State St. Marblehead

The threat of rain predicted for October 10th
led us to Marblehead a day early. Our anniversary is
the 10th and Marblehead is a very special place for us.
Not arriving til late afternoon, we still had a
chance to wander around the streets that I love
before we headed back home.

October 11, 2007 ~ Thursday...overcast with drizzly rain now and then during the day
but when evening comes so does the heavy rain...

Who is this mystery cat?
She has appeared in our yard 3 times that we
have noticed. Last night she was peering through
the front porch door at our cat, Brody.

©2007 Nancy Cooper Funk the mystery calico cat

This evening, just before dark, David discovered
her and she came running to a kitty call and was so
very friendly.

©2007 Nancy Cooper Funk the mystery cat
She was rolling and purring...
We called neighbors all around and so far no one
knows her. She is wearing a red collar and looks
beautiful and sweet. We decided to put her on our
back porch for the night, though she would like to be free
but is is a rainy night and we are worried about her being
lost and out with all of the wild critters.

October 12, 2007 ~ Friday... rain, rain, rain and heavy rain

What's for dinner?

©2007 Nancy Cooper Funk cherry tomatoes

Oh, not tomatoes again!

©2007 Nancy Cooper Funk Polly the cat with tomatoes

While I was cleaning, I came across our old gallery sign.

The 24 hour mystery of the lost cat is solved!
After phoning everyone, neighbors, shelters,
police, leaving messages and arranging for
a friend to pick up this lost cat to spend
the night in her warm house this evening,
there was a knock at the door around 6 pm.
A man said, "you've got my cat".
Having never met him though he lives
nearby, we had left a message on his
phone last night.
Turns out, this cat lives in a horse barn
nearby and tends to wander.

©2007 Nancy Cooper Funk Ellie May the cat
Ellie May settled into my lap tonight in the studio.
We didn't get much work done but had a photo
shoot instead. She was happy today to have
company....D & D from Conn. who hadn't been here
in 3 years. Ellie May was in her glory and
took on her shop cat role.

October 21, 2007 ~ Sunday...it is a beautiful day....blue skies, clear and sparkling, breezy and feels
about 70 degrees

and Polly squeezed into it.

Saw some beautiful color on a walk on the back roads
off of Ocean Av.

October 22, 2007 ~ Monday...stepping outside this morning feels like a summer day...
it is clear and feels about 80 degrees by afternoon and the evening is balmy!

Was a good day for painting the doors a lighter shade of
green....chose a color called "Sprinkle Green" at the
hardware store....at first it appeared so light, I thought it
was white, but after 2 coats it looks soft and inviting.
You can see a tiny hint of it behind Brody.

The night was balmy with a beautiful moon.

Ellie May savored sitting out on the porch
under moonlit skies.

artist paint brush ©NCooperFunk
October 23, 2007 ~ Tuesday...it's cloudy breezy and balmy...on the warm side...the leaves are
falling from the trees in record numbers....

Chippy was quite camouflaged this morning.

The birdfeeder near the studio had much activity.

Good-bye to this color on my studio door...
today was warm enough to give it a new
coat of paint.
artist paint brush ©NCooperFunk
October 24, 2007 ~ Wednesday...clouds stay around all day with drizzle now and then...

The overcast sky enhances the brilliant colors
in the leaves that still cling to the trees.

artist paint brush ©NCooperFunk
October 25, 2007 ~ Thursday...an overcast morning turns to a bright blue sky in the
high 50's and tonight is the full moon with a likely frost...

Brody's expressions make me smile!

Noticed this cute couple this afternoon relaxing in the
autumn leaves.

Harvested the rest of the green tomatoes clinging to
the vines for there may very well be a frost tonight.
Now the problem is, what to do with them!

artist paint brush ©NCooperFunk
October 26, 2007 ~ Friday... clear and crisp

Brody ( our ginger cat) awoke me at 6:30 am. and I
thought the spotlight was left on outside...
it was the full moon shining through the window.

By 7:00 am. there was just a hint of the
moon as it slipped closer to the horizon.

Dave picked Ashmead's Kernel apples from one of the
trees he planted years ago. It is an antique apple and last
year it provided about 8 apples. This year there are 100's!

artist paint brush ©NCooperFunk
October 27, 2007 ~ Saturday... fog, rain, drizzle, heavy rain and more fog

As the rain taps the window, the seen
outside in the fog reveals
some nice soft colors.

On the way to do errands, we pull over to say hello to the cows!
artist paint brush ©NCooperFunk
October 28, 2007 ~ Sunday... the moon was shining when I went out at 7:00 am.
and as the wind picked up the clouds disappeared and led the way to a clear, sparkling day!

When we arrived at the beach for a walk, the tide was
so high, the beach was gone!
artist paint brush ©NCooperFunk
October 29, 2007 ~ Monday... Well, it acutally did frost last night..the first one of the season...
today was clear and cold....winter clothing is appearing....

artist paint brush ©NCooperFunk
