	May 1, 2007 ~ Tuesday ~ the morning begins with clear blue skies..a beautiful day for May flowers The blue shade in the flowers matched the sky. We had a surprise welcoming from Sadie Ann, who appeared from her backyard when we stopped at her house to work on her Mom's garden. Sadie Ann has one blue eye and one brown.

	May 2, 2007 ~ Wednesday ~ sunny with big white billowy clouds The Star Magnolia is blooming in our garden.
	Was a beautiful day for a ride and we stopped in Kennebunk to see the miniature horse,	the geese	and the sheep who seemed to enjoy David's serenade of "Baa Baa Black Sheep"

	May 3, 2007 ~ Thursday ~ clear blue skies with a brisk but mild breeze Blues and yellows are the colors of our spring garden so far. Polly looks comfy she is making me want to take a nap! May 4, 2007 ~ Friday ~ a beautiful clear day... with golden light in early evening While taking a walk on the beach around 6 pm. we first we met Kali Rose, a beautiful Great Dane, from Connecticut. She was fascinated and on guard when she looked down the beach and saw something very large heading in her direction. Enjoying an early evening stroll along the beach was a family with very large children. A site to behold....these children were so well behaved and so beautiful and graceful. Magic light cast a beautiful golden glow on everyone we met.

	May 5, 2007 ~ Saturday ~ cloudy and cooler with an incredible sunset Tonight I was wrapped up in the sky! May 6, 2007 ~ Sunday ~ a sparkling day that is on the cool side... This morning we were invited to visit Lexxie and Blue at their home. Their Mom thought we'd enjoy seeing them run with the wind. Lexxie was very curious about me. It might have been a sign of affection or her way of getting to know me when she nibbled the top of my head! May 7, 2007 ~ Monday ~ a sunny spring day in the 60's Was a beautiful morning to enjoy a walk on the beach. David and I were in the yard when we saw a couple of birds fly over head and land on the telephone wire. David thought they were hawks. I took some photos from a distance then quietly crept closer to the wire and took some more only to discover they were not hawks but pigeons!
	The pink Robin Hill Shadblow bloomed in a bucket of water. David had saved the broken branches from April's storm.		The trout lilies are carpeting the paths near the brook.

	May 8, 2007 ~ Tuesday ~ sun and warmer Morning began with a goldfinch... and the day ended with a golden sunset. May 9, 2007 ~ Wednesday ~ sunny and the heat makes it feel like first day of summer This afternoon while walking along the road, I saw a very handsome rooster that matched the swans in the nearby pond. May 10, 2007 ~ Thursday ~ very sunny and hot...feels like it's in the 80's Today brought a hummingbird, an oriole and a really cute chipmunk to our garden. Ellie May has a new companion to keep her company on the porch while I'm working inside the studio. While Ellie May appears to be dreamy, she is listening for the tiniest sounds, especially that of the chipmunk.
	The Rembrandt tulips bloomed today.	The chipmunk did not go unnoticed as it scurried by the porch door and down the path. Ellie flew off the couch for a glimpse of chippy from the screen door.	The Thalia narcissus is also blooming.

	May 11, 2007 ~ Friday ~ early morning fog led to a tremendous thunderstorm that was too close for comfort....by late afternoon blue skies reappeared briefly Brody and I are up early working at the computer and by the look of him, he's a little sleepy and a bit suspicious of the camera. Leaving the Post Office this afternoon, I grabbed my camera to take photos of all these adorable beagles! Their Mom is involved with a beagle rescue. May 12, 2007 ~ Saturday ~ a very clear crisp day and it turns cold.... so much color in the garden David had put oranges in the tree with the hopes of attracting an oriole and sure enough, one appeared this afternoon for a drink of orange juice! May 13, 2007 ~ Sunday ~ clouds and sun ..... a pristine day! Brody sends Happy Mom's Day wishes to all kinds of Moms for all kinds of reasons! The Eleanor Schooner and the gull are sailing today. May 14, 2007 ~ Monday ~ a sunny day and I got out my old bicycle for the first time this year to ride to the Post Office.... To my great surprise, today's mail brought a wonderful letter from far away. A family very special to me, used to visit my gallery in the 1980's and had moved back to Japan in 1990. I had painted a portrait of their daughters Joshieand Hiro before they left. Today's mail brought me news and a photo. It is 17 years later and I was so happy to receive the letter. If by chance, they see this, I send my best wishes and I hope they can e-mail me their e-mail address. you can write to me at: info@mainememories.com Tonight Brody was sitting on the porch and Polly (above) was resting in her basket when David came in and sat down. He happened to sit on the car keys in his pocket which set off the extremely loud car alarm. Brody flew into the house and up the stairs in a flash and Polly had this very startled look! May 15, 2007 ~ Tuesday ~ a rainy day with an orange theme. The rains stopped and clouds and sun took over.... This morning the female oriole found the orange Dave put out near the feeders...My camera startled it into the tree but it came back. W e are getting fresh oranges to put out soon. A concrete pump truck pulled in next door and a giant orange arm came out and reached above that house and into their backyard. Our orange cat, Brody took one look at that through the porch, thought it was a creature with an enormous tail and fled into the house. We didn't realize how popular oranges are with the wildlife in our yard. Through the fuzzy window, we saw a chipmunk in the tree eating from half an orange that was set out for the orioles.
		This is for my sister who had back surgery today and we wish her a speedy recovery....have been thinking about her all day!

	May 16, 2007 ~ Wednesday ~ rain and thunder and all is green The spring green is so beautiful in the rain. Laundry day and Brody is in his glory! May 17, 2007 ~ Thursday ~ cloudy and quite cold My favorite blue clouds appeared in the early evening as we walked along Ocean Avenue in Kennebunkport. While walking I noticed something out of place sitting in a tennis court belonging to one of the large houses along Ocean Av. in Kennebunkport. At first I thought maybe it was a duck decoy until she moved her head. May 18, 2007 ~ Friday ~ it rains all day and is so cold and damp we have to put the heat on... Many critters have been drinking from the half orange David put in the tree...today it was the catbird and the oriole returned often. Wishing Emmy a very Happy Birthday! May 19, 2007 ~ Saturday ~ the day started out overcast and drizzly and continued that way... Looking over at the studio first thing this morning, I saw a little face looking back at me. I acknowledged Ellie May with a wave and got ready to go to work with her! May 20, 2007 ~ Sunday ~ cloudy....foggy....misty The fog adds a softness to the fishing boats in Cape Porpoise. Back at home, chippy discovered the replentished bird feeder. We also had so many birds at the feeders and drinking from the oranges and eating grapes. Some of the birds were fortunate to observe were a Baltimore oriole couple, sparrows, goldfinches, chickadees, cardinals, catbirds, titmouse, a purple finch, a red-winged blackbird and a rose-breasted grosbeak couple. Was a very busy day for the birds! May 21, 2007 ~ Monday ~ sun and clouds and the air seems so fresh and clear.... Wishing Cindy and Mike a very Happy Anniversary with a speedy recovery to Cindy from her back surgery. The gray catbird has been a frequent visitor to our yard and this afternoon a gray cat suddenly appeared on the path leading to the house! It took me by surprise and seemed very curious from a distance. We don't know where this cat lives...we think it must have a home for the long fur seems groomed and the cat is so very friendly. We hope it stays safe! May 22, 2007 ~ Tuesday ~ blue skies and a lovely clear day.... Today I met working dogs.... I had the pleasure of meeting Jack and Rose today who are soon to be shopkeepers at a new pet shop, Scalawags in Kennebunkport. We noticed something amazing while driving home from Cape Porpoise. We turned the car around to get a better look at this riding mower and we met Guy from Big Guy's Landscaping and Honey the co-pilot. Honey Bandit waiting in his mustang convertible for his mom, Gabi. May 23, 2007 ~ Wednesday ~ a cloudy morning with the sun poking through the clouds in the afternoon and a cool evening...we wish our niece, Shaina, a very Happy Birthday...she also loves to paint! Shaina My paints have taken over my work surface! May 24, 2007 ~ Thursday ~ a foggy cool start to the day transformed into a beautful clear day.   A sleepy Brody

	May 25, 2007 ~ Friday ~ it is sunny, hot and humid with highs in the 90's.... it feels like the middle of August and in the evening the sweet scent of flowers lingers in the warm night air. Brody started his day on David's trousers!

	May 26, 2007 ~ Saturday ~ a sunny warm day and a lovely breeze keeps us comfortable in the afternoon. In the early evening, David and I sat on a bench at Gooch's Beach, the air was balmy and the gulls were floating in the sea! We saw a couple walking towards us with a stroller. Taking a ride in their convertible with the top down was Lilli and Conway! They were so adorable and looked so comfortable and content. May 27, 2007 ~ Sunday ~ cooler and breezy The Eleanor Schooner is a peaceful sight. May 28, 2007 ~ Monday ~ sunny and warm The chickadee seems to be wondering, "who is enjoying the orange?" May 29, 2007 ~ Tuesday ~ a beautiful day..breezy and clear light Where the river meets the sea brings a sense of peace and tranquility and reminds me of our old gallery. May 30, 2007 ~ Wednesday ~ so beautiful... less humidity makes it great for working. Preparing for an art exhibit at the Green Heron Inn for Saturday, June 2nd from 1-5 pm. and Sunday, June 3rd from 1-3 pm. as part of the Arts in the Inns event in the Kennebunks. Ellie May is right there to help me paint the sign... we're trying to figure out what to do. May 31, 2007 ~ Thursday ~ cloudy and cooler....the fragrance of lilacs lingers in the damp air. Over the years, Dave had planted about 12 different lilacs and many are blooming with subtle shades of blue, pink and lavender. They are exquisite.
