	March 1, 2007 ~ Thursday ~ sun and another blue sky day Brody has a feather on his head and thinks he's impressing Polly.
		Over in the studio, Ellie May is having a peaceful nap.

	March 2, 2007 ~ Friday ~ wake up to snow lightly falling Sugar, Jet and Bubba are looking for Sherry ( my sister) and we're all wishing her a very Happy Birthday!
	The snow was magical this morning but by afternoon it turned to rain.	Viiews through the upstairs windows on a snowy morning.	Here's Sherry on the run with a spatula as a youngster...some things never change and she became a great cook!

	March 3, 2007 ~ Saturday ~ early morning mist...warmer...sun and clouds then a bit of rain lunar eclipse tonight
	When I was very young I loved to draw birds and here's a drawing I made of woodpeckers. I still love to draw them.		Here's one of many woodpeckers who visited the suet bird feeder today.

	March 4, 2007 ~ Sunday ~ sun and clouds... the day after the lunar eclipse is a day of loons, moonshells and sundogs! The sky revealed a sundog when we took a late afternoon walk on Gooch's Beach.
	Found a moonshell on the beach... we haven't seen these shells wash up on the shore in many years. We used to collect baskets full of them in all sizes.	the amazing sundog	Today the loons were out in great numbers.

	March 5, 2007 ~ Monday ~ it is very cold and is a day of snow flurries and sun and clouds all at the same time a sudden burst of snow flurries while the sun is peering out from clouds...   This afternoon a flock of robins settled into the holly bush to feast on the berries.
	More flurries made for a magical day!	Brody was fascinated by the robins	Late afternoon, one window reflected the sunset in the opposite window to create a very unusual vision.

	March 6, 2007 ~ Tuesday ~ this is the most bitter cold day...strong winds go right through you.... What could be better on a wintry day with howling winds, than to be an indoor cat with her favorite mouse (toy) and cheese! Who else would like some cheese? March 7, 2007 ~ Wednesday ~ still too cold but sunny a day for making a special little birthday gift to mail and for wonderful company Brody helps me get the gift ready. Polly & Brody have company...their Grandpa George is staying over and we're getting ready to watch a movie. March 8, 2007 ~ Thursday ~ very strong winds makes it so very cold again but the sun is shining After enjoying a great breakfast at the Port Bakery, we took a spin by the ocean which was sparkling with sunlight as the wind whipped around Great Hill. March 9, 2007 ~ Friday ~ sun is shining and a tiny bit warmer a good day for birthdays thinking of Bette
		A late afternoon walk on Gooch's Beach was cut short by the piercing wind. The sea water was frozen along the shore.

	March 10, 2007 ~ Saturday ~ the morning begins with sun and some warmth but it turns cloudy with wind...an afternoon walk on the beach is invigorating. The sea glistens with a spot of sun at Gooch's Beach, Kennebunk On the way home, we notice the ducks are skating on thin ice! March 11, 2007 ~ Sunday ~ clouds start the day but by late afternoon the sun takes over and it is very mild. While taking our afternoon walk on the beach we met Freya.
	The weather is about to change.	Freya in turn met Cassie the lab puppy. The wind made it difficult to distinquish the front from the back of Freya.

	March 12, 2007 ~ Monday ~ sunny and on the mild side in the morning Dave scooped Ellie May up in his arms to bring her out into the sunshine for her first supervised outing of the season.
	Being set down in one if the garden beds, her feet didn't have to touch the snow.	She soon discovered the dried catmint in the garden island.	After a satisfying roll in the catmint, she was content to return to the studio.

	March 13, 2007 ~ Tuesday ~ clouds thicken in the morning but the sun does shine in the afternoon bringing very mild temperatures and mud in our driveway! "Down Along the Cove" This is an ink & watercolor painting I created from a vintage photograph in the archival collections of the Brick Store Museum. The photograph was described as The Cove, Kennebunk, circa 1915. It will be part of an exhibition called: "A Brush With History" Here's the photograph that inspired me. Each artist participating chose an archival image to interpret. The exhibition can be seen at the Brick Store Museum 117 Main Street, Kennebunk Maine from March 27- April 28, 2007 March 14, 2007 ~ Wednesday ~ get up and out early and it's surpising how mild it is outside today..Dave is thinking of doing some yardwork even though snow is on the ground. Never too early to prepare the gardens! "Brody and the Trousers" Couldn't find Brody at first this morning but looking over the side of the bed, there he was.....he loves to sit and sleep on Dave's pants, so we leave some folded in different spots for him. All Polly has to do is look up at Dave after dinner and the look in her eyes and her silent meow tells him he'd better grab a pillow...she's ready for her favorite thing... being brushed! March 15, 2007 ~ Thursday ~ a rainy foggy day....could be a storm brewing for tomorrow. Ellie May is definitely a lap cat! As soon as David sat down in the wicker chair in the studio, she made herself very comfortable.
		There's a very determined squirrel at our bird feeder today!

	March 16, 2007 ~ Friday ~ there's a snow sun in the morning and by late afternoon a big snow storm moves in. The morning sky has a feeling of snow. This is the first red squirrel I've met so far this winter and it is adorable. The storm has arrived and the feeders are very important to so many different birds..here's a sparrow... Today I've also watched woodpeckers, blue jays, cardinals, juncos, cowbirds, chickadees and there's others.... March 17, 2007 ~ Saturday ~ the snow last night turned to sleet this morning.... instead of shoveling I tromped through the ice covered snow to reach the studio. Gradually I retraced my steps and shoveled out the path. Ellie May was keeping an eye on me as my boots sunk into the snow as I worked my way over to the studio this morning. ( she's in the left window ) After much procrastination, I finally settled down to draw in the afternoon and just then Ellie May climbed over to sit on my lap. I haven't quite figured out how to effectively work around her. I feel so honored and she's so comfortable so however long she'd like to stay that way is fine with me! March 18, 2007 ~ Sunday ~ sun and clouds with cold breezes keeps the snow crusted over so we can walk upon it without sinking. "The Sparrow and the Owl" A late afternoon ride by the sea revealed ribbons of snow showers in the distant sky that made me feel as though I was inside a watercolor. March 19, 2007 ~ Monday ~ the sun warms things up a bit. We went to a Trade Show in Portland today and just before we were about to leave we found the Kennebec River Co. with wonderful organic catnip toys....here's Brody with his special gift from the show: a Cat-A-Tonic catnip toy that resembles him! March 20, 2007 ~ Tuesday ~ the sun is out with a howling wind...the snow on the studio roof is melting but there is a dangerous possibilty that the whole thing could slide off the metal roof and come crashing down. It's overhanging the entrance so I am waiting for David to attack it with a broom before it lands on my head! It's a good reminder for people to look up when these snow conditions exit. Polly is relaxing with "The Pink Panther ". We had borrowed the DVD's from our library and find them fun to watch late at night when we can't fall asleep. Tonight while returning home from the library, a deer caught my eye and camoflaged in the background was a second one. It was very still and beautiful. March 21, 2007 ~ Wednesday ~ sunny but very cold...don't think it gets above freezing for the first day of spring. Wistful thoughts may be floating through Brody's mind on this first day of spring. March 22, 2007 ~ Thursday ~ sunny and warming up..snow is falling from the roof like an avalanche.... "The Owl and the Pussycat" I went upstairs to check something on the computer, all the while wondering where Brody was for he wasn't in his usual spots. I heard a little Brody voice and spun around to see him behind me as you can see him here. March 23, 2007 ~ Friday ~ blue skies and the warmth of a spring day fills the air... snow is melting here and there and mud is appearing in the driveway.... It was lovely walking on the beach in the early afternoon. Ellie May settled in on the wicker chair beside me tonight in the studio. March 24, 2007 ~ Saturday ~a sunny day ~ it's more on the mild side than cold
	The warmth of the sun has melted much snow. Many birds are happy to see the ground as the cardinal watches from above.....saw some birds gathering long strands of grass in their beaks and wandering off towards a thicket under the pine trees in the front yard.... most likely to build a nest.	It is warm enough for Polly to enjoy sitting out on the front porch early this morning as shadows of branches dance around her.

	March 25, 2007 ~ Sunday ~ the overnight snow gently settled to the ground creating a magical winter wonderland when we awoke this morning.
	The ice has melted on the brook but the winter look returned.

	The sun returned melting the snow and bringing boaters out making it feel like a different day.
	On the beach, dogs frolicked!	Ellie May studies the painting that I am working on of Brody.

	March 26, 2007 ~ Monday ~ cloudy and damp with light rain in afternoon and evening We're painting dogs today. David and I vist Maddie & Jack who are relaxing after a romp in the rain. March 27, 2007 ~ Tuesday ~ a cloudy morning gives way to sun in the later afternoon with much warmer temperatures and golden light. a golden sunset tonight I've been working on a watercolor paintiing of Polly and I think it is where I would like it to be, so I will sleep for now! March 28, 2007 ~ Wednesday ~ a clear blue crisp day and the wind makes it nippy. Just as the snow is melting, the snow crocuses appeared with a brilliance in the subdued grass. We must walk lightly for other shoots are just beneath the surface and we don't want to crush any delicate flowers. March 29, 2007 ~ Thursday ~ a repeat of yesterday with sun but the wind was more furious and it felt bitter cold. At the top of the hill, the crocuses reappeared with the sun as the brook sparkled below. March 30, 2007 ~ Friday ~ the clouds give way to sun in the late afternoon drawing out not only the crocuses but also the snowbells.
	Brody is camoflaged behind the indoor lemon tree this morning.	Polly's camoflaged under the couch surrounded by Dave's shoes and socks.	First sign of the snowbells this spring.

	March 31, 2007 ~ Saturday ~ clear blue skies...it's warmer inland than by the sea.
	Didn't expect to see Brody when I reached into my closet this morning!	The footprints in the sand at the beach can tell a story about who walked the same path.	While I was bundled up in my winter coat and scarf, I was amazed to see a barefoot print in the sand.
