July 1, 2007 ~ Sunday ~ overcast morning with a bit of drizzle and the afternoon is breezy with
the clouds that I love!

The clouds are so beautiful as we return
from a wonderful surprise birthday
party for a friend.

©Nancy Cooper Funk Brody the orange ginger cat
While I was facing my computer to work on this
journal, I kept hearing a soft purring sound in
the air. I glanced around the floor from my chair
but didn't see Brody until I looked up and
into the corner. Yesterday I returned home
after visiting family in Connecticut for a week.
Brody was quite distressed that I was
away so long and when I returned home, he
sounded like a sheep, "Bah Bah,"
in quite a loud and somewhat upset
voice. It is so nice to hear his soft purr and
see his happiness return.

he stretches out his front legs.
Those little white paws had gently
touched my face at 5 am. as a

was empty and needed to be
refilled immediately!

July 31, 2007 ~ Tuesday....blue skies and quite hot ....
Ellie May, Polly and Brody are the messengers of Happy Birthday wishes for my Mom!
We had always thought her Birthday was August 1st, but some years ago we found out
it is actually today, so we celebrate both!
We send our love and wish we could be there for the family party!

love from Ellie May!

love from Polly!

love from Brody!

I have many found memories of her birthday party at our grandparents cottage in Maine while we
were growing up.
My sisters, brother and I and any of our cousins who happened to be there would tell all of the
adults to leave and we would bake a birthday cake. We would be so excited
and we tried our best but they always came out looking dilapidated....crooked, crumbling...
often it would be totally fallen apart but it tasted like birthday cake and everyone was happy!

I forgot to mention we decorated with streamers!
