January 1,
2008 ~Tuesday...the early morning has a pink tint to the sky
and there is
talk of another snow storm on the horizon....

Brody helped
us figure out how to use Skype so we could
see and chat with the family this afternoon.

The snow certainly did arrive as
predicted...
it is beautiful as the large snowflakes
brush by the window.

January 2,
2008 ~Wednesday...the sun is shining and the snow is glistening...
icey in spots.... bitter cold moves in for the evening...

We wish Mike
a very happy birthday!
Hoping good things fly your way, everyday!

January 3,
2008 ~Thursday....it's 1 degree this morning and stays bitter
cold all day and into the night...
It is a special day for our nephew, Jesse.....we wish him a very
happy birthday!

As we sipped
tea and hot chocolate late this afternoon,
we took in view from the window in the bakery on Main St. in
Kennebunk.

January 4,
2008 ~Friday....another very cold day...saw the first 2 robins
of the New Year in the
yard....and tonight a ladybug is sitting on the letter "m"
on my keyboard as I type this.
We were so happy to hear from our niece way across the ocean
tonight on skype...

The chickadees
frequented the bird feeders often today...

A very cold sunset along the ocean...

January 5,
2008 ~Saturday....sunny and warmer though it is still cold enough
so
that the ice isn't melting on the pathways and driveway.

This ladybug
visited me in the early hours of the morning.
She needs help to find her way home.

Though it wasn't super cold today, this afternoon's walk
was cold enough to bundle up and walk briskly.
The high water mark can be seen on the jetty where
the snow line ends.

January 6,
2008 ~Sunday....though it is a gray day on the outside it is
sunny on the inside.

Here's the
view from Federal Jack's Restaurant,
as I enjoyed a special lunch with Dave and my father-in-law.

Polly is sleeping so tenderly tonight.

January 7,
2008 ~Monday....sun is peeking through the clouds and it is warming
up...

Ellie and
her friend are taking care of things in the studio while I visit
my family. Dave will be the topcat while I'm away.

January 8,
2008 ~ Tuesday....sunny...a spring like day in Connecticut...

While visiting
my parents house, I am also visiting my old oil
paintings...this was Mrs. O'Connell's house which was next
door to my grandparent's cottage.

January 9,
2008 ~ Wednesday....a cloudy start to the day but it is still
mild in Connecticut

I didn't
need a jacket when I took a walk late yesterday afternoon around
my
parent's neighborhood.....the melted snow left puddles along
the side of the
road....

January 10,
2008 ~ Thursday.... sun and clouds in Connecticut

I came across
a drawing I did of the house my Dad was
born in....it was called "Cooper Bros. Market".
My parents and I have created a big mess for in order to
insulate the attic, things have been taken out of the attic.
We've discovered some strange things that have
been saved.

January 11,
2008 ~ Friday...rain, heavy rain, thunder and lightning and more
rain all day long!
Happy Anniversary to Sharon and Kurt!

The den at
my parents house has filled up with the
things that have been stored in the attic, while the
insulation is being put in... my nephew is
camouflaged in the midst of it all.

January 12,
2008 ~ Saturday....the sun is shining and it is cooler
I walked to West Hartford Center and checked out the re-opening
of
the Library....very grand!

We had a
family get-together at Tiger's house in the evening.
It was magical!

January 13,
2008 ~ Sunday....the morning is clear and cool.... Am still in
Connecticut
and there may be a snow storm traveling this way for tonight
or tomorrow.

In some of
the bags stored in the attic, we came across these
critters!

January 14,
2008 ~ Monday...peering through the window early this
morning, the snow greets me...am in Connecticut....

It's a winter wonderland this morning,
as I glance out
at my parents backyard.

January 15,
2008 ~ Tuesday... the sun is shining ...with baby blue skies
in the
early morning but the weather changes throughout the day with
clouds, some rain and
snow flurries.

As my Mom
opened the living room curtains this morning, the sun
shining through the snowy trees revealed a beautiful day ahead.
When I looked up towards the treetops, I forgot I was in the
suburbs.

Tonight I was very happy for my nephew came over to paint with
me.

January 16,
2008 ~ Wednesday...sunny with a brisk chilling wind...

Met my sister
in the Blueback area of
West Hartford...it reminds me of a mini
Boston....here's a glimpse through the
window of the Chessecake Factory.

January 17,
2008 ~ Thursday...the sun shines in the morning but the clouds
move in and all
is gray....

My Mom had
never painted untlil the mid-1980's...
she was so prolific for a few years and now we hope she
will pick up the paint brush and rekindle the enjoyment she
once had in painting again...

January 18,
2008 ~ Friday... a few inches of snow fell overnight turning
to
rain by morning....by afternoon the sun is back.

Took a ride
with my parents by the
house we lived in til I was in the
middle of 4th grade.
It was a great neighborhood for children.

January 19,
2008 ~ Saturday... a gray day on the outside..

Through the
den window this sweet sparrow sat.

January 20,
2008 ~ Sunday... clear and very cold.....brrrrrr

The moon
is full as the clouds drift by with hints of pink....

January 21,
2008 ~ Monday... sunny and bitter cold....

My Dad found
his old movie projector and
some old movies...it was fantastic!

January 22,
2008 ~ Tuesday... sun in morning...gray skies and a cold wind
in the afternoon...
and a few snow flurries in the late afternoon...
Stepped outside
in the late afternoon, the brief
snow shower had stopped with a hint of sun as I glanced
over at rooftop of my parents' neighbor.

January 23,
2008 ~ Wednesday... seems to be a sunny day and maybe not as
cold...
I'm going home tonight.

Here's some
more of my Mom's paintings.
I set up painting space for her and just had her dapple
with a few colors, just to get the feel of the brush and paint.
It's like riding a bike....and hopefully it will come back to
her
and bring her much enjoyment.

My Dad emerged
from the basement this morning with an old
portfolio envelope full of my old artwork.

I had painted
my brother practicing the piano way back when....
Tonight he kindly gave me a ride half-way home where I met Dave
to travel back to Maine...arrived home just before midnight.

January 24,
2008 ~ Thursday... sun and clouds....it's good to be home again
though I miss my family....

Went outside
early this morning to catch the moon over my studio.

We took a ride just before dark to visit the sea and pink in
the sky
would soon vanish.

January 25,
2008 ~ Friday... sunny again and very cold

Brody was
so comfy while I worked
on the computer.

Polly soaked up the sun and looked so content...

January 26,
2008 ~ Saturday... a bright clear cold day...

Dave refilled
the birdfeeder and it was attracting
many birds including this titmouse couple.

January 27,
2008 ~ Sunday... wake up to snow gently falling...

Gazing through
the window as the snow blankets
the landscape... so quiet...

Brody perched
on the edge of the table to get a better view of Polly on the
counter.

January 28,
2008 ~ Monday... a sunny windy day

I had the
good fortune to notice this grouse at the
edge of our yard when I returned from a brisk
walk this afternoon.

January 29,
2008 ~ Tuesday...sun and clouds and pleasant temperatures for
January

I saw a bald
eagle for the very first time today...
I spotted something sitting in the marsh
as we were driving by an inlet,
Dave thought it was a wild turkey at first but I noticed
that what he thought was a patch of snow was actually
the eagle's white head...and then it flew away...
( my camera doesn't have as much telephoto power as
I would like but at least I could capture this much,
though it is fuzzy)

January 30,
2008 ~ Wednesday...a rainy gray damp start to the day leads to
strong winds and big
dark blue clouds...(my favorite sky) and the winds push the clouds
away revealing the sun once again.

The colors
in the sea and the sky were so beautiful as the
weather changed.

While poking our heads into Port Lobster, we were introduced
to
Cheddar, love at first sight!

January 31,
2008 ~ Thursday...the sun shines all day with a crispness in
the air for
winter is still here!

So many ducks
had gathered towards the
sidewalk at Mast Cove...a few days ago
I had noticed a woman feeding the ducks,
and I bet they remember and perhaps it is
a daily ritual. They might have thought I was
her but I only had my camera with me.
