	January 1, 2007 Monday ~ freezing rain ~ drizzle ~ a dark day outside ~ and good to be inside Today was a rainy day so I decided to try out some new colored pencils and chose "Tiger", my cat niece as the subject. I started out with just the pencils but now I'm experimenting and adding some watercolor to it.

	January 2, 2007 Tuesday ~ clear skies ~ cold and brisk A late afternoon walk on Gooch's Beach revealed a full moon as I looked across the river. Our gallery and the home of our cat,Ellie May, used to be under the blue roof. That was Ellie May's territory where she could often be seen on the beach!
	I met Patches at the beach.
	The sky turned pink and light blue		as the moon followed us home.

	January 3, 2007 Wednesday ~ clear skies ~ almost 50 degrees F Sunset in Saco Maine
		Brody and all of us wish our nephew, Jesse, a very Happy Birthday!	Found a painting of Jesse I made of him when he was a baby, bundled up for sledding.

	January 4, 2007 Thursday ~ sky is changing from clear to cloudy Looks like a winter snow sky but it is too warm for snow.   A big orange full moon rose over the city lights of Portland ~ at first it was difficult to distinguish the moon from the neon lights until the moon rose above them all. January 6, 2007 ~ Saturday ~ rain ~ sun and almost 70 degrees F a day for reflection
	After the morning rain, the sun suddenly appeared and with it, a rainbow plus very warm temperatures.	We met Dakota at the beach today.	Saw a bicylclist in a tee-shirt on January 6th....is it winter or spring?

	January 7, 2007 ~ Sunday ~ sunny and 50's Went to the Bakery Cafe this morning and when we came out, we noticed a fern had opened. This normally doesn't occur in a Maine winter. Over at Gooch's Beach, it was a beach day. January 8, 2007 ~ Monday ~ a dark rainy day but it stops in the late afternoon with a hint of the sun and a beautiful sunset.   January 9, 2007 ~Tuesday ~ a bright sunny brisk cold day While taking a walk this morning on Gooch's Beach I met Lexxie & Blue getting exercise.

	January 10, 2007 ~Wednesday ~ a bright sunny wintry cold day Saw a hawk land on top of a telephone pole while coming home from grocery shopping. Back at home, Polly is relaxing in the sun on the couch. A special treat tonight was going out to dinner with family at the Blue Moon Classy Diner. We ended up parking beside a car with this classy couple with the same idea! Actually, they were waiting for someone dining inside and hoping for a doggy bag! January 11, 2007 ~Thursday ~ another bright sunny wintry cold day Polly wishes Sharon & Kurt a Happy Anniversary! Saw this message when we left the bakery this morning...seems like a good sentiment for today! January 12, 2007 ~Friday ~ starts out cold and gray but warms up with sun in the afternoon I have found myself doing everything except what I really need to do and that is draw and paint so who better to start with than Brody. January 13, 2007 ~Saturday ~ a grayish blue day that looks like rain but doesn't A favorite spot where the river meets the sea ~ very calm

	January 14, 2007 ~ Sunday ~ a film of ice is everywhere
	I was drawing Mary who was drawing in Herb's & Whey	I was so happy to recently reconnect through e-mail with artist friends who were at the Farmington Valley Arts Center in Avon, Connecticut when I was there. Today was a good day to pull out my old drawing books from that time....	Duncan working on a metal sculpture

	January 15, 2007 ~ Monday ~ snow & sleet
		With the sound of sleet beating against the windows, it felt good to be inside and working on art.	the studio

	January 16, 2007 ~ Tuesday ~ a gray start but the sun appears in the afternoon
		Ellie May is on my lap helping me paint this afternoon. We're painting a chicken!

	January 17, 2007 ~ Wednesday ~ Sun and very cold...the high of 19º F
	Today is our dog nephew, Jet's first Birthday. I made this portrait of Jet from a photoI took the first timeI met him in April of 2006. I was visitng family in Connecticut when Rose, our niece, stopped by with Jet shortly after she had adopted him. I fell in love with him. His adorable ears go along with his personality!	Happy Birthday Jet!

	January 18, 2007 ~ Thursday ~ another sunny but cold day ~ we took a very brisk morning walk along the beach . Inside, Polly is keeping all of her baby doll mice company while the sun streams through the window. January 19, 2007 ~ Friday ~ was supposed to snow but it rained and warmed up a little overnight so some of the ice in our pathway melted ~
		A friend was visiting in the studio this afternoon and when we came out to return to the house we noticed the crabapple tree was not only full of red crabapples but it was full of cedar waxwings. It is early for them to appear and I hope they find enough food to sustain them for winter isn't really over.	I was inspired by this cedar waxwing couple to paint them tonight.

	January 20, 2007 ~ Saturday ~ it's been a very windy day and even though the sun is out, it's still cold.
	Leg Lamp	Was talking to a friend today who was describing a charming movie that I had seen years ago. I had forgotten some of the details. The movie, "A Christmas Story," is about 2 young brothers and takes place in Cleveland in the early 1940's. The father in the movie wins a lamp and the base of it is shaped like a leg with fringe on the lampshade. She went on to tell me about a man who had made reproductions of the lamp and has sold quite a few. To her surprise, she recently spotted a "Leg Lamp" in a window in our town. This afternoon we discovered it's location and there it is on the left. The reflection doesn't do it justice so we'll have to try to see it again at night!	Polly is staring at Dave who is reading and has forgotten that she is waiting to be brushed!

	January 21, 2007 ~ Sunday ~ a sparkling sunny day but too cold for a walk. even the gulls are trying to stay warm

	January 22, 2007 ~ Monday ~ it's snowing! looking through my upstairs window at the snow   Polly is so comfy in one of her many window baskets

	January 23, 2007 ~ Tuesday ~ it's winter ~ a fluffy light snow makes shoveling easier as I worked my way over to the studio to see Ellie May. She was tapping the window to indicate she wanted me to hurry over with her breakfast.
	Path to the studio	A beautiful moon slid out from beneath the clouds tonight.	Ellie May, the studio cat Foot prints from an unknown critter.

	January 24, 2007 ~ Wednesday ~ sunny and it feels quite warm at 40º David (my husband) is a computer tutor who offers computer help in the convenience of your home. Here's one of his students who happens to be in our home. January 25, 2007 ~ Thursday ~ sun and very cold Brody is contemplating how he can get close to Polly. Polly is oblivious to his desires.

	January 26, 2007 ~ Friday~ sunny with a bitter cold wind Our 13 year old amaryllis plant bloomed. It reminds of our beloved first cat, Lily, with fur of white and eyes of yellow green. "Lily" January 27, 2007 ~ Saturday ~ it's still very cold and wintry A beatuiful bird's nest caught our eye.... Everyday more birds are appearing around the bird feeders and today was the first time this year I have seen a nuthatch. January 28, 2007 ~ Sunday ~ very sunny and warmer The red amaryllis bloomed glowing with sunlight of the morning streaming in through the window. January 29, 2007 ~ Monday ~ sun - windy - cold If it wasn't for Brody's white bib and paws he would blend right into the floor.....he's still trying to get as close to Polly as possible without a confrontation.
	Stopped in Dock Square...icicles had formed above a window while the moon was out in the afternoon.	late afternoon	Very cold and windy by the sea

	January 30, 2007 ~ Tuesday ~ another sunny day with a bitter cold wind Doesn't get much better than a nap on a cold winter day. January 31, 2007 ~ Wednesday ~ yet another sunny day A brisk walk on the beach provided all these treasures from the sea for me to collect.
	Polly is our upsidedown cat!	Brody 's guarding his catnip.	Ellie May is enjoying company.
