a pink sky at night!

February
2, 2009 ~ Monday... cloudy but warmer...in the 30's, feels like
a heat wave!

The road
to Parson's beach was very inspiring.

February
3, 2009 ~ Tuesday ... cloudy and cold with the feel of snow in
the air..the snow
doesn't arrive til mid afternoon...it's very fine and amounts
to a few inches of very
light snow.

There was
so much activity around the birdfeeder this morning, everyone
was there including a pair of bluejays. Among the other hungry
visitors were
the gray squirrels and the red squirrels including our special
one,
chickadees, juncos, golfinches, house finches, a tufted titmouse,
sparrows,
a wren, a woodpecker and cardinals.

February
4, 2009 ~ Wednesday... cloudy and cold and very light snow.

If you remember
my tales of our little red squirrel,
well, we saw her in the snow at the bird feeder.
She was having a grand time eating the sunflower
seeds amongst many birds. Everyone got along fine.
Suddenly she leapt before she looked, right into the arms
of the big gray squirrel above her. They colided and there
was a startled encounter and then little red dashed away
in a split second.

February
5, 2009 ~ Thursday...sunny and very very cold.
Another very busy day at the bird feeder with new visitors!

We had thrown an apple that was
beginning to go bad out in the
snow for whoever might need it's nourishment. This robin has
claimed it.

February
11, 2009 ~Wednesday...sunny and so mild...we took a walk along
the beach.

Dave brought
Ellie May over to the house for a visit and
she fell asleep on the couch beside me.
The house cats were sound asleep in the other rooms so
they never knew she was there and she didn't know about
them either so she was not stressed.

February
12, 2009 ~Thursday...sunny

Last night
when Dave filled up the birdfeeders
with sunflower seeds he forgot to replace the
lid to the barrel where the big bag of seeds are
stored. This morning something caught my eye
in that vicinity. The little red squirrel had discovered
it and was having a feast!
