December
1, 2008 ~ Monday...foggy

When I stepped
outside this morning,
a motion caught my eye near the driveway,
and there was our little red squirrel.

December
2, 2008 ~ Tuesday... blue skies and windy in the morning becoming
ovecast

A ride by
the beach just before sunset...
by chance I saw unusual sandpipers flying into the rocks
as the surf sprayed. They were purple sandpipers.

December
10, 2008 ~ Wednesday...cold

The cold
weather got to the potatoes stored in the unheated
back part of our house. We are hoping to save them by
warming them up. Some have turned soft, so I will cook
those first. Hope they are ok to eat!

December
11, 2008 ~Thursday through Saturday, December 13th...
On Thursday,
something is up with the weather...by nightfall
it seems like an ice storm could be approaching and sure enough
it does.
The power goes out sometime in the middle of the night and does
not return
until Saturday afternoon at 1:15 pm. Brrrrrrr, the house and
studio dropped
in temperature to about 42 -44 degrees. The overnight outside
temperatures
were about 16 degrees. So cold one cannot think! No power so
we can't do much
but think of trying to stay warm for we don't have an alternative
backup heat source.
The light of the full moon helps to illuminate the house on Friday
night.

Ellie May
is bundled up in jackets and a scarf to keep
warm on Friday as the temperature drops in the studio.

December
22, 2008 ~Monday... the sun shines and the snow is abundent from
the
storm of yesterday.

We returned
home by nightfall and saw just how much snow fell
in Maine and realized we couldn't get into our driveway...there
was
a mountain of snow up to our waists. Dave shoveled a narrow
path up to our front door! Good to be home in a warm house with
kitties to greet us!
