December
4, 2007 ~ Tuesday....snow flurries filled the air all day lending
a magical quality
to the day.

A mystery
was solved!
Last winter the bottom of this birdfeeder developed
a suspicious hole so that all of the birdseed
fell out to the ground. We blamed it on the squirrels.
This morning we saw the real culprit in action!

December
5, 2007 ~ Wednesday....sun and clouds with a wintry feel

Brody soaked
up the golden light this morning.

The geraniums at the Library look simple and
elegant against the winter scene outside the
window.....

A winter sun above the river adds a sense of
serenity.

December
6, 2007 ~ Thursday....sun with blue skies

The goldfinches
lit up the bird feeder today...

Brody has
taken to napping every afternoon
in his cloth cat house!

December
7, 2007 ~ Friday....the early morning sky is pink...as the day
progresses, the clouds become prevalent, bringing a feeling of
snow
and sure enough in the late afternoon the flurries begin....

As I walked
through the yard late this afternoon,
I noticed many animal prints in the snow.
Am not sure who had been there!

Ellie May watched me from her window as the
snow flurries began...

December
8, 2007 ~ Saturday...sun begins the day and clouds appear but
with them beautiful
shades of dark blue in the sky... and it is a bit warmer

Brody has
an unusual way of stretching out
his front leg....

Mid-afternoon
we travel to the big city of Portland
for errands that seem to go on forever....

December
9, 2007 ~ Sunday...a day of clouds of blue gray

very calm
seas and it may snow tonight...

December
10, 2007 ~ Monday...a light snow softly falls in the morning..
the sun shines in the afternoon and it is bitter cold in the
evening...

Woke up to
the magic of snow and
a smiley face in the window!

A warm glow from the shops filled the Square as the
temperatures fell this evening.

December
11, 2007 ~ Tuesday...the rhododendrum leaves were curled up tight
early
this morning indicating a very cold night..the day remained cloudy
and warmed up a bit.

A treat for
Polly... Dave escorted her outside in the snow
and she discovered the dried up leaves of the catmint
plant poking out of the snow.

Dave kindly brought it inside for her and she was wildly
eating it.

Polly was perfectly content after her excursion and feast.

December
12, 2007 ~ Wednesday...the morning felt quite mild and patches
of blue
peered through the clouds....afternoon brought strong winds and
by evening it is
mighty cold...it may be 14 degrees tonight...

The windows
steamed up this morning and this cat
appeared in the shower room.

Ellie May was very content to be warm and snuggly and
out of the wind.

December
13, 2007 ~ Thursday...bitter cold this morning and the snow begins
around 2 pm. and lightly falls through the evening....it is light
enough to sweep the
paths clear with a broom but when it finally stops the shovel
finishes up.

Peering through
the window early this morning,
the rhododendrums indicate that it is very cold..the
tighter their leaves curl up the colder is the temperature.

There was a feeding frenzy below the bird feeders this
morning...the woodpecker managed to peck a hole in
the bottom of the feeder allowing all of the seed to
fall to the ground. Here we see the mourning doves
but all of the other birds had been there as well.

A treat for Ellie May, her Dad stopped in and she
qucikly claimed his lap.

December
14, 2007 ~ Friday...the snow from last night was dry and as the
day warmed up
to 40 degrees it was easy to clear

Solitude
and sunset....

December
15, 2007 ~ Saturday...the sun shines but the air is bitterly
cold...
a storm will be arriving tomorrow

To our surprise,
we saw a kingfisher on the wire near
Port Lobster this afternoon...

When Polly woke from her nap this afternoon,
she didn't expect to see her
Grandpapa George and jumped up on the couch to be
close to him...

December
16, 2007 ~ Sunday...woke up to fine snow and bitter cold..the
snow has continued
all day and has turned to sleet...gave up shoveling my way over
to the studio and
decided to just tromp through it.

Ellie May
watches the snow storm this morning
and is looking for signs of us in the house.
She gave me a signal that I should come over
to see her and work!

The steps leading down to Ellie May's studio!

December
17, 2007 ~ Monday...the sun is shining and it's super cold...
we are reminded of yesterday's blizzard when we look at the driveway
and
paths and realize they must be shoveled out.

Our front
steps!

Finished
a pet portrait commission and Polly is giving it the OK.
Now it is ready to be mailed.

December
18, 2007 ~ Tuesday...a sparkling sunny day...still below freezing

Today was
spent working on commissions, and my
helper, Ellie May kept me on track.

By the time
I finished, the sky was darkening and the lights
from within shone bright.

December
19, 2007 ~ Wednesday...it's cloudy and a bit warmer but the sky
looks
like a snow sky and then about 4:30 pm. the snowflakes flutter
down.

We had to
rush to the PO in Kennebunk tonight
to mail some packages and we just made it
by 4 minutes!
On the way home, the window in the Landing
Boat School caught my eye.

December
20, 2007 ~ Thursday...the snow was falling overnight and has
continued
through the day...I love it.

Early morning...the
street light is still shining
as the snow flurries pass the window.

The sun is
enveloped in a thin veil of clouds
as I shovel the driveway.

A late afternoon ride by the sea as the snow softly
falls....

December
21, 2007 ~ Friday..it's the winter solstice....a sunny day and
the turning
point for more light...

Afternoon
shadows are long....

The light is golden by the sea...

December
22, 2007 ~ Saturday..overcast and warming ....
snow is knee-deep in the yard and rain is predicted for tomorrow...

Tonight Dave
is shoveling off the roof to the walk-out
cellar and shoveling paths in the snow for water to
escape if it rains.

December
23, 2007 ~ Saturday..overcast and warming up ...the rain starts
in the evening

Brody has
fallen in love with David's shoe boxes.

When you can't seem to fall asleep, try counting sheep...

December
24, 2007 ~ Monday..clouds and sun and snow is melting...
Today is a special day, my Dad's Birthday and a family wish come
true.

The sea resembled
glass this afternoon as the sun peeked out from a cloud.

The trolley looked like a storybook as the full moon rose.

Quite a bit of snow fell off the porch roof tonight
with a thunderous sound when Dave
tapped it with a shovel...Ellie May watches with dismay!

December
25, 2007 ~ Tuesday...sunny...blue skies...

Sometimes
the best gifts are the simplest things....
one's trash may be another's treasure.

December
26, 2007 ~ Wednesday...sunny and crisp

We head home
from our cozy visit with Papa George
around mid-day....with distractions en route,
we don't return home until dark which enables us
to see this beautiful blue tree as we approach our
town!

December
27, 2007 ~ Thursday...starts out gray and drizzly, turns to slippery
sleet and
by late afternoon beautiful snow which continues in the dark
of night...

Brody in
a playful mood...

The sleet
turns to snow in the late afternoon...

Nothing like a cat nap on a snowy evening....

Shoveling in the snowy night felt so quiet, refreshing and
magical.

December
28, 2007 ~ Friday...when I looked outside early this morning
I was so surprised
to see how beautiful the light in the sky looked with the snow
that fell overnight...I quickly grabbed my
camera to wander through the yard.

December
29, 2007 ~ Saturday...this morning at 7:00 am. it seemed much
earlier
for the sky was dark with rain....the grayness and fog lingered
through the morning...

Tonight Polly
is very cozy in her basket which gives us
a sense of comfort and warmth just looking at her.

December
30, 2007 ~ Sunday...the sun shines and it's a good day for a
walk on the beach...

The sea has
a silver cast near the jetty as we take a long overdue walk on
the beach...

December
31, 2007 ~ Monday...wake up to a winter wonderland and no electric
power...

Through the
window in the early morning the
snow is softly falling.

Wishing one and
all a healthy happy New Year!
