August 12,
2007 ~ Sunday...sunny and very warm with a visit from
family!
Our niece
and nephew dogs are visiting Maine
for the first time and stop at our house on the way to the cottage
in Ocean Park where they will be staying.
Here's Sugar and Jet exploring our yard and heading for the brook.
Tonight they are exhausted after their trip from
Connecticut, a swim and that fresh Maine air!

2007 ~ Wednesday.... sunny again

2007 ~ Thursday.... sun with some humidity and thunderstorms

Brody sleeps

2007 ~ Friday.... a sunny day and a special one for our niece,
Rose....
I painted
this of Rose in 1987 and today
Dustin proposed to her near this beach
in Maine.

August 18,
2007 ~ Saturday.... it feels like fall...so cool and breezy and
clear
It was a
beautiful day for Dave and I to ride our bikes
to Patten's Berry Stand and we
continued on to Dock Square and the Post Office.
This evening we walked as the sun was setting and the
men were fishing on Gooch's Beach.
A sliver
of the moon was visible in the
clear cool evening air as the sun set.
August 19,
2007 ~ Sunday.... another sparkling day
While photographing
plovers on the beach tonight
I met 2 beautiful dogs who were in constant motion.
August 20,
2007 ~ Monday.... sun and clouds with a hint of autumn
We have company!
Ellie May is on the porch keeping an eye on Madison, who stopped
by for a photo shoot in the garden. I snapped many photos so
I can use them as
reference for a portrait I will be making of her with my ink
and watercolors.
The tomatoes from the garden look good enough to
paint, as do the blueberries and blackberries
that Dave picked tonight!
When I ran over to feed Ellie May, I noticed the sunset
so brilliant and just moments later, it vanished.
August 21,
2007 ~ Tuesday.... sunny ...
spent the day cleaing the back room and attic....
Brody peered through the attic spaces to see what I was
sorting out down below.
I actually found the cardboard pet carrier that we
transported Brody home in when we adopted him
from the Animal Welfare Society in 2004.
The box looked too small for Brody to fit into these
days and we didn't think he would have any
interest in it. We set the box down on it's side and
to our surprise, Brody took to it right away!
Meanwhile, Polly was stretched out on the couch looking adorable!
The pink in the sky tonight disappeared rapidly once the sun
went down.
August 22,
2007 ~ Wednesday.... sunny ...
another day spent cleaing and this time I'm working on the studio....
While the
sun streamed through
the front windows this morning,
Polly soaked up the sunshine.
Brody discovered the changes I made while cleaning yesterday.
I collected all of the extra pillows I had and put them in the
sunroom.
Dave finished putting up a clothesline this
afternoon....am so happy to have it.
Reminds me of my childhood summers
in Old Orchard Beach.
Ellie May is camouflaged on my studio desk.
I've been rearranging things up there.
I find that once you change one thing,
everything else seems to unravels until you have
a complete mess but hopefully you can fit it back together
in an improved way.
While I was working on this journal page tonight,
I heard a purring sound right beside me.....
I turned my head to see Brody here sitting up watching me.
August 23,
2007 ~ Thursday.... overcast and on the cooler side so
I rode the bike to town to check the mail and visit the library.
The dolgo
laden with red crabapples
has reached the upstairs window in the studio.
I should
learn how to make something
edible out of them but for now I will
most likely paint them!
August 24,
2007 ~ Friday ... cloudy and sunny with more humidity
Polly is
keeping a watchful eye on that
tomato!
Brody appears to be falling off the couch,
but he's actually just grooming himself.
August 25,
2007 ~ Saturday ... sun and heat and humidity...must be in the
90's
Brody is
very sleepy from the heat.
The heat and humidity has gotten to Polly.
This evening we meet our friends from Viirginia and Tennessee
at the beach and
to our surprise it is almost chilly!
August 26,
2007 ~ Sunday ... sunny and cloudy and still quite humid especially
in the evening
The pumpkin
that we didn't plant is growing
nicely under the bay window on the south side
of the house.
On our way to the beach tonight we
noticed a hint of autumn for
some trees suddenly are displaying
their autumn colors... and it's still
August.....
August 27,
2007 ~ Monday ... sunny ...the air is less humid and made working
on preparing for a craft fair this Saturday on the Green in Kennebunkport
pleasant.
A calm night
for walking...the sun is setting earlier these day....
we see Fricka and Woton wading in the shore.
The full moon rising over the sea takes us by surprise...

2007 ~ Tuesday ... another sunny day and pleasant enough for
a bike
ride to town and a good drying day for laundry.
The new clothesline
is getting broken in today!
Waiting for
french fries at the Clam Shack tonight....

2007 ~ Wednesday ... it's sunny with low humidity once again...
still working on getting organized for the craft fair on Saturday
...had some
visitors today...so nice to see them all.... from Wisconsin,
Illinois and Connecticut!
We took our
evening walk along the shore with a seal!

2007 ~ Thursday ... sunny and a bit more humid...
spend the day and night working on getting ready for the craft
fair on Saturday
on the Green on Ocean Ave. in Kennebunkport.

2007 ~ Friday ... clouds, sun and humid with a brief shower in
the evening
Spent much
of the day packing for the craft
fair. Amazing how it all just fits in the car.
Dave sets up the tent in the evening in between quickly
passing showers.
Here's the first pumpkin from our garden and it is
still August....
