David's Thoughts
on
Woodcarving
As a sculptor,
I tend to
see things as shapes
and texture.
The garden provides
an abundance of
subjects for my
art.
When someone sees
me working, I am
often asked,
"How did you
carve that?"
Let's say I am
working on a leaf.
My reply would be,
"I chip away
everything that
isn't a leaf!"
